MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, Touch Bar models, every generation from 2015 Intel through to the latest M-series. Screen, battery, keyboard, charging, liquid damage, slow macOS — Townsville's independent MacBook specialists. 14+ years working on Macs, often more affordable than Apple, broader recovery options.
Every MacBook from the 2015 Intel era through to the latest M-series — Air, Pro, Touch Bar, function row, all sizes.
This page is dedicated to MacBook laptops. For desktop Macs (iMac, Mac mini, Mac Studio, Mac Pro), see our broader Mac repairs page — same techs, same approach, slightly different parts and pricing.
MacBooks are beautifully engineered and built to last — but they're not invincible. Sealed batteries swell, top-cases need replacing, liquid finds its way in, M-series machines slow down under heavy use.
We see the same handful of issues week-in week-out. Most are fixable. A few aren't — and we'll be straight with you about which is which before any money changes hands.
Diagnosis is always free. Quotes are fixed-price in writing before we order parts. If we can't economically save it, we recover your data and help you plan a replacement instead of running up wasted invoices.
Get a Free MacBook Diagnosis →Cracked Retina displays, dead pixels, flickering, anti-reflective coating wearing off. MacBook screens are replaced as a full top assembly — pricier than PC laptops but professional results.
The classic MacBook failure — battery swells until the trackpad lifts. Sealed-in design means glued-in replacement, but we do it cleanly without damaging the chassis.
2016–2019 MacBook keyboards are notorious. Sticky keys, repeating keys, dead keys. We replace as a top-case assembly with the newer reliable design where applicable.
USB-C charging ports get damaged from cable strain. Sometimes a clean fixes it; often it's a board-level component or port replacement.
Indicative pricing only — exact quote confirmed in writing after a hands-on diagnosis. All prices include GST and labour. Apple genuine parts where available.

The honest answer most independent shops won't give you.
If your MacBook is under standard warranty or AppleCare and the issue is covered — use Apple first. It's almost always cheaper (often free), and going to Apple keeps your remaining cover intact. We'd genuinely rather you save the money.
Where we make sense: out-of-warranty MacBooks, issues Apple won't cover (accidental damage, liquid damage outside AppleCare+), older Intel MacBooks Apple charges premium prices on, or jobs where Apple wants more than the laptop is worth.
Where we also make sense: data recovery — Apple's standard process is to wipe and replace the logic board. We can often get your data first.
We'll always ask about your warranty/AppleCare status during diagnosis. If Apple is the right call for you, we'll say so — even if it costs us the job.
No surprises, no upsells. Here's exactly what happens from your first call to picking up a working MacBook.
Drop your MacBook in or describe the problem over the phone. We check warranty/AppleCare status, identify the actual cause, and recommend the best path — even if it's Apple, not us.
Written quote covering parts, labour and timeframe. You decide whether to proceed. No paid work starts without your authorisation. No "we found more problems" creep.
Parts ordered from quality suppliers (Apple genuine where available). Repair done on a static-safe bench, then full diagnostic: charging, battery health, keyboard, trackpad, speakers, ports, Wi-Fi, camera, fans, thermals.
You collect a fully-tested MacBook and a written warranty record (typically 90 days workmanship). Old parts returned to you or recycled responsibly.
Local Mac specialists, transparent pricing, broader recovery options than Apple's authorised network.
Years of MacBook work across every model from 2010-era unibody MacBooks through to current M-series. We know what breaks and how to fix it.
Out-of-warranty Apple repairs are pricey. We're often a fraction of Apple's price for the same job — and we'll tell you when Apple is actually the better deal.
Apple's standard fix is "wipe and swap logic board". We can often recover your data first — including from older Intel MacBooks with separate storage.
Drop in, talk face-to-face with the tech doing the work. No mailing your MacBook to Brisbane or sending overseas.
We'll always tell you if Apple makes more sense for your warranty status. We'd rather lose a job than make you regret skipping cover you paid for.
Workmanship covered. Replacement parts carry their own warranty too. If anything fails inside the warranty period, we fix it free.
MacBook part of a bigger Apple ecosystem? We do the lot.
Drop your MacBook in from any suburb — we cover the whole region.
Quick answers to what Townsville MacBook customers ask before booking.
No — we're an independent Mac repair shop, not an Apple Authorised Service Provider. The trade-off: we're often significantly more affordable than Apple's authorised options, we'll work on out-of-warranty machines that Apple won't touch, and we offer broader recovery options (component-level work, soldered-SSD data recovery) that authorised providers can't do. If you have active AppleCare we'll often recommend you use it — see the next question.
If your MacBook is still under AppleCare or standard warranty, and the issue is covered, use Apple first — it's almost always cheaper or free. Independent repair on a covered machine can void the remaining cover for related issues, though not always for unrelated future failures. We'll always ask about warranty status during diagnosis and recommend Apple where it makes sense for you, even if it means we don't do the job.
Typically $300–$900 depending on model and issue. Battery replacements usually $250–$450. Screen / top-assembly replacements $500–$900. Keyboard / top-case assemblies $400–$700. Liquid damage cleans $300–$700. Logic board component repairs quoted case-by-case. We give a fixed-price quote in writing before any paid work starts.
Honestly — sometimes. M-series MacBooks have storage soldered to the logic board, which makes recovery much harder than older Macs. If the logic board is alive but the machine won't boot, recovery is usually possible. If the board is physically dead, recovery requires specialist chip-level work and isn't always successful. We'll be straight about chances during diagnosis. For Intel-era MacBooks with replaceable storage, recovery is much more reliable. See our data recovery page for more.
Component-level repair on M-series logic boards is genuinely specialised work. We do basic board-level work on Intel MacBooks (capacitor, MOSFET, charging IC replacement) and triage and quote M-series board issues case-by-case. Where a job is beyond our bench, we'll tell you straight rather than waste your time — and we can refer you to specialist board-repair partners interstate if it's worth pursuing.
Most common repairs (battery, keyboard, liquid clean) are 2–5 business days end-to-end including parts arrival. Screen / top-assembly replacements can take 5–10 days because the parts are larger and more carefully shipped. We'll give you a firm timeframe at quote stage and update you if anything changes.
Yes — see our broader Mac repairs page. iMac and Mac mini work follows the same principles but the parts and prices are different (and iMacs especially involve glass-bonded display work). MacBooks are our most-requested Apple repair, which is why we built this dedicated page.
Call now or request a quote online. We'll check your warranty status, diagnose honestly, and quote a fixed price — no surprises.
